Un musée qui éclairé sur une émigration russe qui s'installa dans la ville de VARDØ,à l'époque de l'apogée de la ville qui était le port le plus important pour la pêche à la morue.
Le responsable des lieux est un passionné de sa ville et de son histoire.
Il est agréable de pouvoir échanger avec quelqu'un à l'esprit ouvert.

Such a great little museum! Very detailed and nicely organized. There’s also translations for everything in multiple languages, so very accommodating. Loved the place. Only thing, on here it says it’s open until 18, but the sign at the museum says until 16.

A Mysterious Museum with No Way In

I read reviews about how great the Pomor Museum is, and honestly, I have no idea how people manage to visit—it seems almost impossible to figure out how it actually works.

According to the museum’s website, it was supposedly closed as of March 2024—yet at the same time, it listed opening hours as 12:00 to 18:00. That contradiction was already confusing.

We tried to clarify things before making the trip. On Friday, we called the phone number listed on the website, but the woman who answered said she didn’t know anything about the museum because it’s not part of Varanger Museum. If that’s the case, why is that number even listed? I also sent an email during working hours that same day and never got a reply. So, despite trying, we couldn’t get any clear information.

Still, we decided to go to Vardø anyway, hoping to figure it out in person. We had flown from Trondheim to Kirkenes, rented a car, and driven all the way there just for this visit. But when we arrived, the museum was closed. Whether it was just closed for the day or shut down entirely wasn’t clear. A sign on the door listed yet another version of the opening hours: 12:00 to 16:00—different again from both the website and the reviews, which said 12:00 to 18:00.

So how are visitors supposed to know what’s accurate? The website contradicted itself, the phone line was no help, and emails went unanswered. The lack of reliable information made it incredibly difficult to plan anything.

I really wanted to visit the museum—it was important to me. But in the end, I never got the chance, because I couldn’t solve the “puzzle” of how to actually get in. It’s the first time I’ve encountered a museum with such poor communication. Disappointing.

Fint museum med spennende historiefortelling. Pomorhistorien er ukjent for mange og dette museum formidler denne historien på en god måte. Utstillingen var godt gjennomtenkt og helhetlig. Billetten koster 70 kr noe som er det samme som andre museum.
